This game is damn good for a console FPS. But it isn't quite as great to me as a lot of other people seem to think it is.
The single player mode is very fun. But the interior levels are very boring and reppetitious. The outdoor levels, on the other hand, are extremely vivid and detailed, a sight to see.
Co-op mode is probably my favorite aspect of the game. Nothing beats going through games like this with a friend and watching each other's backs.
The other multiplayer modes? Well, they leave a little to be desired, and for one main reason: no bots. Given the price of the Xbox's controllers, having 3 extra at one place will be rare for a while. When playing 2 player deathmatch it can seem to take forever to get 15 kills. I suppose if you have 3 extra TVs, and 3 other friends with Xboxes and 3 extra controllers each, then it would be a blast...but somehow I don't think Xbox LAN parties are going to be all the rage.
As for the controls? I don't like the Xbox controller. The buttons aren't placed intuitively, and you often hit the wrong button when attempting to do something. I also would have rather had mouse and keyboard support, but MS has gone out of their way to make sure that will never happen on the Xbox.
All in all it's good. Probably the best game on the system right now, but it isn't the perfection many people, and reviewers, would want you to beleive.
