After having now played the game for a while, I have found that, whilst the nicely detailed visuals, and innovative fighting are great, they fail to hide the problems that were the underlying feature of the game. Example: If you are fighting someone, and move the the edge of the 'area', then any task you were doing is stopped. Suffice to say this resulted in my failing a mission I was doing, and my friend (who wears pink and has an afro!) ended up being killed. This is more than a little silly, and shows the lack of polish that this game has throughout. The way in which you can improve your weapon is good, but the game is not long enough for it to be worth your while, since you never actually make enough money (The most I've ever got in one sitting is 20 yen...) The length of the game, as well, does not make it very easy to get your character all of his moves, especially if you pick up a weapon later on that you would prefer to use.
Also, you sometimes pick up extraordinarily good weapons from random people, which defeats the purpose of beating the 'boss' characters somewhat. That said, it is still an enjoyable romp, although it's not really anything to write home about.
Summary: Good game, fighting system is great. Far too short, poorly thought out and lacks substance. Buy only if you have money to burn, or really like Samurai games.
Graphics: 8 (Very nice, but some characters are identical)
Sound: 7 (clashing of swords)
Gameplay: 9 (It's really great, whilst it lasts)
Longevity: 3 (It's about 2 hours long, and I'm not overly inclined to play it aghain now that I've completed it.)
