Civilization II is a great, great game. It's so complex it takes on account the vicinities of your city as one of the attributes that will determine its growth. Be prepared for peace treaties, war situations, military alliances, and some backstabbing too (ooooh, those Celtics were soooo mean to me once). You can choose to be a more military-expansionist-oriented strategist, a more science-conservative-related one, or just a combination of both. And you'll sure notice that on the competing civilizations too.
Civ II is so great you will find yourself spending straight 4 to 5 hours playing this game, always saying to yourself "I'll stop at the end of the next turn. I can't stop now because I wanna see this achivement happening", or something. It's really an addictive game. Don't buy it close to test weeks. I mean, unless you really don't like strategy games. In this case, I recommend you to keep an eye on this game. It's just a game you should have played at least once in your life.
