Divine Divinity is an excellent RPG, if you can see by its faults.

I'll start with the problems.  The interface is just barely adequate and difficult to use.  I thought this would be a game breaker, but it will grow on you eventually if you give the game a chance.

The graphics are also medicore.  Mainly the characters and animation are the culprits.  The environments themselves look great though.  Its nice to see this graphical style of RPG when most PC RPGs are going all out 3D.

Now to the good stuff.  The gameplay draws you in.  It has the hack and slash feel of Diablo, but because of the massive size of the world and quests, it also has the Morrowind type feel, which is its main appeal.  The quest writing and storyline are well done.  The quests are interesting and unique.  Not the, "Go There", "Kill This", "Bring Back Item" type of quest prevalant in most RPGs.

I also enjoy the barter system.  The economy in DD works pretty much exactly as it does in Fallout 2.  It also uses the same interface for bartering as Fallout 2.  Merchants have a small stockpile of hard cash and items.  You may trade items or gold for an item or gold they have.  I like this system because it slows down wealth hording.  Just because you found a charm worth 150,000 gold doesn't mean your rich.  Just who are you going to sell it to? =)

There are 6 classes of characters to choose from, but ala Ultima Online you can take any skill path you wish.  You may pick a Warrior and yet take the path of a thief or mage.  There are 96 skills to choose from, which make character development in DD pretty interesting.

I'm also enjoying the music and the decent voice acting.  There is some interesting and humorous dialog.

Any RPG fan should give this game a try.  If you can see by the faults you'll have a great time with it.
