Eternal Darkness is a wonderful psychological survival adventure game that is truly innovative. It is a must have for any Gamecube owner.
The visual presentation of Eternal Darkness is slightly above average. Some of the animations are very nicely done, but on the whole it is slightly better than a top notch Nintendo 64 game displayed in high res. The audio is superb, the music is eerily appropriate, and the sound effects are wonderful. The voice acting is above average as well. The user interface is wonderful and easy to learn and manipulate, the controls are excellent and the camera never gets annoying.
There the game shines is its innovative game-play. The sanity meter is the strongest point of the game. Many strange things occur when your sanity meter begins to fill up…
***Spoiler Alert***
Blood will begin to spill from the walls, you will decapitate yourself, your controller will stop communicating at the most inopportune time and your television will start broadcasting fuzz. All of these things happen at points where you are so into the action that you forget you are playing a game.
***End spoiler alert***
Overall Eternal Darkness is a wonderful game that will have you sitting at the edge of your seat and awaking in the middle of the night screaming in horror. Ok, well maybe not the latter statement. I give ED:SR 10 out of 10.
