Adventure games like this aren't generally my cup of tea but this is an exception.
This game follows the famous Archeologist through Ceylon (My Country...now known as Sri Lanka)...Prague ...Istanbul and more. Talk about a globe trotter huh. The game is essentially a mix of hand to hand combat, shooting and ofcourse good old puzzles. At first you think...this is Indy....there can't be much fighting in store for him...but i assure ...there is plenty of fighting and it's brilliant fun at that!
Graphics:
Graphically ..this game is stunning..Lucas Arts..havwe done a tremendous job with the graphics. The textures are superb...atleats the majority. There is soooo much Pixel Shading..luckily i have a Radeon 8500. Everything is pixel shaded...water...guns...metallic surfaces...a beautiful sight! The environments are large....and excellently designed. But i think the minimum spec is far too high for the game..great graphics came at a cost..but....the minimum spec requires a Hardware TnL capable card and there are quite a few who don't have that kind of power.....
Did i mention the character detail? really good! Indy looks alot like Harrison Ford.
Sound:
The famous I.J theme song will ring in your ears for hours! YUp....the track is great..but unfortunately...there is only one! It got pretty boring listening to that same tune again and again. The voice acting is pretty good....all those accents...are pulled off quite convincingly. Weapon sounds are decent and so are the other sound effcts.
Gameplay:
Indiana Jones is alot of Fun... i like hand to hand combat alot..it's simple and Indy has quite a few moves. Althoug there's little to no blood (wonder why!) ...the camera is in good chape and the action can get quite intense..especially when you have three turks armed with knives waiting to disect you!
There are guns at Indy's disposal...good stuff...nothing like a Tommy Gun! He can also use ..knives, bars, chairs, bottles and so on.
The controls are pretty good and simple like i mentioned earlier but.... i found switching weapons a bit of a chore. The aiming when you are armed with a gun is also pretty inaccurate. You don't have a cross-hair in normal 3rd person mode but you do in 1st person mode...catch is...you cant move in 1st person mode!
But apart from these little short-cmoing...this game is great! The puzzles are pretty logical..didn't find myself cursing the developers! And to add to all the fun..this game is pretty long and challenging.....expect 12-20 hours of whipping....shooting...punching and code breaking....oh whatever....he he
Conclusion:
A Great Adventure game with balanced Actionand Puzzle Solving......thumbs up!
