Syberia was a wonderful title from Microids and therefore when I heard of Post Mortem I was quite eager to get my hands on it.  Post Mortem in terms of story and atmosphere is quite the opposite.  Syberia has a melancholy feel to it while Post Mortem plunges you into an ugly murder with your main character Mcpherson having to do a Sherlock Holmes for a mysterious woman who claims to be the sister of the woman who was murdered along with her finace who were on their honeymoon.

The murder is pretty gruesome!  How so? They were decapitated and kept in a seated position with their cut-off heads in their hands!  I can stomach quite a bit.....but thats pretty sickening!

The atmosphere that Syberia was so rich with is present here as well.  This all happens in the 1930's in Paris and you definitely have that feel.  I was more than a little disappointed by the First person view because I so liked the 3rd person view in Syberia.  But thats only when you are in investigation mode... When you talk to the many characters in the game you get some nicely detailed 3d graphics... And of course you see your character.

The graphics in general are top-notch, the models are good enough although I felt Syberia was a bit superior in this department.  But when it comes to detailed presentation and atmosphere, Post Mortem doesnt disappoint... You'll realize that from the very moment you start the game.

Sound wise, the music in the game is very 30's and the voice acting as in Syberia is admirably done.  The french accents are well done (shouldn't be a problem as Microids is based in France and Canada).

The interface is clean just like in Sybria where everything is mouse operated, you have a notepad with your notes and of course an inventory.  As I mentioned... everything mouse driven.

Post Mortem involves you investigating the brutal murder of an Amercian couple and this involves nothing but puzzle solving, not to sound negative... The puzzles are a lot more practical than what you get in most horror titles.  If you are into puzzle oriented games, this will be a treat for you.

One thing I must point out in terms of Microids, they've come out with some great titles, but it almost seems as if they come up with a script and then a plot, this makes their games feel as if they are primarily meant to be watched not played, while there are flaws in creating the framework for great missions and then integrating a story, I cant help but feel that there is not enough gameplay in their adventure titles... it's the atmosphere and plot that impresses you.
