This is a sad waste of effort from a talented design team. It"s also a prime example of the sickly state of the "traditional RPG." Pressing X over and over to watch a B-movie is not a game. Dialog choices that have no impact on the gameplay or story line aren"t really choices. Combat against underpowered enemies with limited options isn"t combat - it"s a chore. Of course, I"m talking about "Okage, Shadow King" but I could be talking about any number of blasé "traditional RPG"s." Console hardware has evolved to the point that more sophisticated interactions are possible. Given the amount of time and money thrown into the projects, it not unreasonable to expect game developers to achieve this, either.
As gamers, we should feel that we are impacting the story and are involved with its direction. In "Okage" the story is going to happen whether we"re around to tap the X button or not.
What a waste of some clever humor and charming graphical style. What a waste of time. What a waste of $40.
