Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, This game is based somewhat on the Dungeons & Dragons epic storyline. The Xbox version has a better feel that the previous version on the PSX2. While you can tell it is a direct port it seems to have a better feel. The sounds are a bit better & are evidence of the Xbox's far superior sound chip. Overall this is an amazing game. It plays like a Diablo or Guantlet type of game but it is miles ahead of these games to be judged as competition. In many cases you can feel that these games listed where inspirations but they lacked the punch that this baby offers. However the game focuses more on the graphics side as everything is rendered in stunning detail. Does this mean it's any less fun. No! This is not your typical hack & slash game. It has a cool element of RPG in the mix which adds to the fun. The ability to upgrade your weapons & armor are testament to this. It is a fun game & your quest to rid the evil from the town is your typical but a storyline that bodes well. The best feature is of course the sounds, they are crystal clear & the voice acting is by far the best to date in a game of this nature. Black Isle Studio's put their best foot forward with this game. Many games will enjoy this game if they give it an honest sitting. Play but remember to save at every opportunity because you can run into a area of powerful creatures & have to start at the very beginging if you don't do so. This game receives a high 9 score for it's benchmark acheivements of great graphics, amazing sound & overall fun.
