As another review has said, EGM is just plain wrong. This is not an earth-shattering game of the year. It is a very good game, to be sure, but the game has some fatal flaws that prevent it from being what many are claiming it to be.
Pros:
* The moves the prince can do are great, and make gameplay a fun and exciting experience.
* Wonderful unlockables keep the experience entertaining till the end.
* The story is only mildly predictable, very entertaining, and keeps things moving forward throughout the game.
* The characters make sense, and do things that make sense.
* The voices are interactive and adjust to what is going on in the game at any given moment.
* Amazing Soundtrack.
* Innovative time altering abilities that you have to see to believe.
Cons:
* Some buttons do different things in different situations. This seems cool at first, but let's say you're trying to cartwheel past a blue-clothed enemy and, while you press the button, he shifts his position so that he is in the space you're trying to move to. The prince will then attempt leap over his head, get blocked and knocked down, and then be bombarded to death by all the ememies.
* The first few combats are fun. After that, it gets old, because it seems that every enemy can block or avoid your offensive capabilities, and the button presses I mentioned earlier make the Mega-Freeze feature unwieldy, as you will often trigger the wrong move. Tip: do not try to leap over blue-clothed enemies, as they will stop you every time. Another Tip: If you're earning a new special move bar, you cannot perform the mega-freeze until it's full.
* The camera is often annoying. While the camera adjustable, it frequently pans behind your enemies in combat, making it nearly impossible to adjust or see what you're doing in combat.
* Enemies teleport too much. Combine this with the blocking I mentioned earlier, and you'll soon find inferior enemies kicking your can on a regular basis.
* The game is only about 10 hours long.
* The final battle is way to easy.
* You cannot use the D-Pad to control the prince. WTF?
My recommendation: rental *ONLY*. Do not buy unless you're a collector or a Prince of Persia freak. However, it's a game that you MUST rent. Don't pass it up!
