This game is the best 360 has to offer, and will be so for some time to come. If you buy the collector's edition, you get some goodies. You get a nice hint book, a collector's tin, an extra DVD, and a small graphic novel.

The graphics are right up there with Oblivion, and maybe even slightly over the line. Everything is textured, pixel shaded, and picturesque.

The sounds are flawless, and well-designed. Allies and enemies alike announce what they see and hear with great enthusiasm. At close distance, you can hear their guns rattling running low on ammo, reloading, jamming, etc in addtion to the sounds of your own weapons.

The single player story is immersive and the AI is good. New creatures and challenges pop out of every nook and cranny. It feels like the first time you played Halo all over again. On its more difficult settings, the AI is jaw-dropping. The enemy will flank you, surprise you, and make awesome maneuvers without cheesing it or using knowledge they should not have. I have never seen AI like this in any game before. Try Hardcore difficulty or above to see what I am talking about.

Gameplay has several unique features. Instead of twitch and jump play, you fighta lot like a real soldier. It's not 100% realistic ala Rainbow Six, but the influence is there. You have to crouch, find cover, and attack from protected positions. Help from a buddy isn't essential, but is highly recommended. You have a bayonet in case things get hairy, but it's been converted to a chainsaw because knives don't cut the mustard in GOW.

The mutliplayer is fast and furious. Execution and Assasination modes are inventive and exciting. Matches don't take excessively long to join or complete. You can do 1-3 matches on your lunch break.

Overall, this game has blown me away. anybody who finds flaws with it is really nitpicking. No game in existence is ever perfect, and this game is not an exception to that rule. However, Gears is a game that gets better the more you play, and after about 10 hours or so, every flaw you can think of will fade out of memory. This is the easiest 10/10 I have ever given. Buy it now!
