Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a great FPS that appeases fans of the genre and the series.
Castle Wolfenstein sticks you back in the middle of WWII in an attempt to stop Hitler's head of the SS, Heinrich Himmler from resurrecting pure evil that will sure turn the tide for the Axis powers.
Graphically, the game is beautiful, and if you aren't running this game in HD, then you're really missing out. The game is very atmoshperic, with pictures of Hitler adorning the walls. Nazis are animated well and they support decent AI, and the bevy of monsters you run through are entertaining also. There is slowdown in the co-op mode, but it's playable.
Controls are tight, and those familiar with Halo will have no problem getting used to the button layout.
Sound is average. Bullets, gun shots and metallic shanks all sound authentic, but the soundtrack loops too much, and the Germans speak English in poor German accents.
Replay is extremely high for this game. You can run through the one player game in co-op mode, or you can link up to four Boxes to play LAN style. The multiplayer is unique with four team members that play through, each with different strengths and weaknesses. Team work is key. And LIVE is a MUST for this game. It's the definitive Live experience.
RTCW is a great single and multiplayer experience. This is a MUST OWN for your library.
