I had pretty much given up on the Dreamcast when I was finally able to trade for Grandia II. Boy am I glad I did! Grandia II is far and away my favorite game on the dc. Nothing ensures a fun and rewarding rpg experience like a great battle system and that's exactly what Grandia II has. It may be the best ever in fact. The incredibly weak and slow battles in Skies of Arcadia killed that game for me but in Grandia II you will look forward to the battles. Leveling up has rarely been so much fun.
The characters are well thought out and the graphics are as good as any in a rpg ever. The rotatable camera allows you to soak in the beautiful environments and ensures you won't miss any hidden items.
The story is solid but nothing new for rpg's. It is very linear but that didn't hurt the gameplay at all, actually the story enfolded at such a good pace that it never bothered me a bit.
If you are a rpg fan you will love this game. I look forward the PS2 version just so I can play it again on the better hardware.
