Based solely on the multiplayer demo that was released recently, Battlefield 1942 looks like it will consume a large portion of my gaming time.
I normally don't try game demos, but the sheer amount of previews and articles about the game intrigued me, so I gave it a try. What I found was one of the most, if not the BEST multiplayer game currently available.
The graphics are very detailed (at least on the Wake Island level), and the draw distance is phenomenal, at least on my PC. Water effects, and overall texture detail is great, and the player models and vehicles are excellent.
Sound is on par with a WW2 game I guess. Guns sound like guns, and vehicles sound like, well, vehicles.
Although the game will include a single player campaign, I will primarily purchase it for it's multiplayer. Imagine 64 players, in vehicles or on foot, ducking it out for control, or just plain deathmatch. There isn't another multiplayer game right now that is as fun as BF1942. Players in vehicles such as planes, tanks and even aircraft carriers and destroyers all wailing on each other in a pure frenzy of multiplayer action.
There is no game quite like it right now. And the full version should be even better!
