Beyond Good and Evil is a very well put together game that deserves to be in every body's collection. An action/adventure game that sadly ends too quickly but makes you wanting more.
Graphics---10/10---The graphics in this game are beautiful and they have to be for the type of game this is. As you photograph animals you can see how well the animation was put together. The lake that you drive your hovercraft upon glimmers a shinny blue color and has your boat bob up and down as waves crash against your side. Character animations are well put together. Mountain ranges, buildings, the sky and the sunset/sunrise are all there and proudly stand strong. Nothing seems to be out of place graphically. Outer space also is extremely beautiful and well designed. The game itself looks like a crystal clear DVD.
Game play---9/10---Basically you start off with a comet of some sort hitting your homeland then a battle against some creatures occurs. After you have disposed of them a "police group" known as the Alpha section arrives to save the day. Later you eventually find out the truth behind the Alpha section. You will be told to photograph the Alpha section to see their operations. While doing so a story about your family is revealed that will lead you to go save your uncle PeJe and the rest of the civilians. On your journey you will photograph animals, improve your hovercraft and collect Pearls. While doing all this you will also have fights against creatures and solve puzzles to learn the truth of the Alpha Section… When the game just seems to begin, it's already over. That is the only downside of the game play; it's beatable within 10-12 hours. Otherwise, this game is one of the best action/adventure games out on the market now for such a cheap price that nobody should pass up.
Replay ability---8/10---There is replay ability but going through it again will not give you an extra award. Basically to replay the game you would do it just to photograph all the other animals you missed along with collecting all the pearls. If you want 100% then yes, there is replay ability but if you are satisfied with just beating the game, then there will be no need to go back and replay the game again.
Bottom Line---A game that is 10-12 hours long, has crystal clear graphics and a story that is well put together and have you enjoying the whole story throughout the game is well worth the price tag of $19.99. The game may end extremely quickly but spending the 10-12 hours it takes to beat the game will have you enjoying every minute. This is definitely a game for any of the action/adventure gamers out there. A well put together game that could have been perfect if an additional 3-5 hours were to have been added.
