Sometimes, there are games that look like they'll be great in the preview stages, then have horrible problems in the final copy.  This is kind of how the original ZOE was.  At its core, ZOE was a good game, but it was lacking in terms of story, length, and the Leo's voice made me want to kill myself.  This is why I wasn't too sure about buying ZOE 2.  Another thing that I saw as a problem was that the game as all done in anime style.  Well, I do NOT like anime AT ALL!  I heard how great the game was, so I decided to buy it, even though I still doubted the game's competence.

I popped it in, started playing, and got pretty much what I expected, an action-heavy mech/anime game.  After a while, though, I stopped noticing the anime stuff and began noticing ZOE 2 as a GAME.  This is when I really started to enjoy it.  Though, the story was a tad bit weak, and the dialogue wasn't all that great, the game is enjoyable.  If not only for the action, it is still enjoyable.

The graphics are absolutely beautiful, with brilliant lighting effects and magnificant explosions.  It is amazing to see the level of detail put into this game.  The animations are solid as a rock and the speed in which the mechs are animated really adds to the feeling of the game.  This isn't just a slow paced Armored Core knock off, but anyone who played the original would know that already.

I don't really notice sound in games, unless voices annoy me, so i didn't notice much, but i'd say the sound is decent.  You have to hear Leo again, but he's a little more grown up and A LOT less whiny.

I was surprised by the amazing level of strategy you HAVE to use in this game in order to beat it.  ZOE 2 differs from the original greatly in this area.  In the original, there wasn't much need to use the sub-weapons, but in this one, they are an absolute necessity, and it's a good thing the menu has been stream-lined for quick weapon switching.  Also, you can now grab enemies to use them as a club, throw them, or even use them as a shield.  This makes for endless possibilities in battle.

ZOE 2 is a MUCH improved sequel that delivers in EVERY area.  If you want more of the original's action, definitely buy this game.  If you just want action in general, then you should also buy this game.  But, be worried no more if the first one disappointed you, this one is AMAZING!
