This is the game that convinced me the ps2 was a necessary addition to my life. A friend showed it to me, the section on the boat with the incredible weather effects, and the graphics blew me away. It was my first full-price purchase, and I have to say that after completeing it I ended up feeling just a little ripped off.
I've simply no interest in indulging games-makers' frustrated desire to acquire a Hollywood contract; even with skipping it takes ages to get through to the actual game. This is a shame, because the game design itself is excellent and compelling. Only the plot is a tedious mess (despite the rare flash of brilliant conspiracy intrigues involving the girlfriend). But for me the cut-scenes really crippled my enjoyment, and absolutely destroyed any thoughts of sitting through the adventure again.
Even though MGS2 is technically pretty spectacular, I was pretty disappointed. Self-indulgence at the expense of enjoyment
