The Name, Chocobo's Dungeon 2, fits this title perfectly. Because, when you get down to it, this title is about a Chocobo, some Dungeons and not much else.
Square is not known for making bad games and CD2 is not exception. For what it is, CD2 does an admirable job. Playing more like Diablo than Final Fantasy, we can imagine this is what most console RPG's would be like if Dragon Warrior or a Final Fantasy had never existed.
Chocobo's Dungeon 2 plays like an "Americanized" action RPG. "Enter Dungeon, Meet Monster, Kill Monster, Pick up gold, rinse, repeat." If this style of "Lite" RPG appeals to you then Chocobo's Dungeon 2 does it to the 9's. The character graphics are marvelous, featuring a soft, cuddly look. The music included also has a light feel to it, so it doesn't stack up to Square's usual symphonic masterpieces. CD2 has magic, potions, and all the usual trappings are included but in a more simplified form than regular RPG's.
Chocobo's Dungeon 2 is a good introduction to the action RPG for young, would-be fans. However, hardcore Square fans will probably be left feeling hungry for more.
