Have you ever played a game that was so enthralling that you never wanted it to end? A game so fantastic that as soon as you finished it, you immediately wanted to start over? This has been our experience with entire Lunar series.  After enjoying the amazing Lunar: Silver Star Story, I eagerly anticipated its sequel.  But could it possibly live up to our expectations? The verdict: Lunar 2: Eternal Blue dispels any inklings of a sophomore jinx by delivering an experience that matches or surpasses the original in almost every way.
Lunar 2 continues the legacy of the Silver Star Story with rich characters, immersive music, and beautiful full screen anime cut scenes.  The graphics are still very much in the classic vein, with sprite-based friends and foes.  While some may see this as a "dated", the colorful characters and rich backgrounds are a Lunar trademark, making them as much a part of the series as Working Designs' quality translation and quirky humor.
The plot of Lunar 2 succeeds by providing multi-layered enemies and friends.  Every player in the world of Lunar, from the lowliest villager to the craftiest villain, has a distinct personality.  As you unravel what drives each performer on the Lunar stage you can not help but acquire an affinity for them.
Lunar also provides one other thing many gamers have complained that the latest RPG's have lacked: a challenging difficulty.  Proper leveling up and judicious use of expendable items is essential to complete your journey.
Working Designs has once again topped themselves with the packaging and swag that graces Eternal Blue.  From the punching puppet that fans could receive from pre-ordering the title to the weighty replica pendant that comes with game itself, they have found new and inventive ways to give players a premium product.  They have also included a separate soundtrack CD and many other extras too numerous to mention.  Working Designs know they have something special in the Lunar franchise, and they want to make sure the fans realize it too.
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue is a sweeping saga featuring unrivaled characters and masterful storytelling.  It is definitely one of the Highlights of this, or any other, year.
