Say hello to NFL Xtreme 2 and say good-bye to realism.
If we didn't know that 989 studios were located in California, we would swear the NFL Xtreme was programmed in Texas. Because you know what they say, they make everything bigger in Texas. And NFL Xtreme 2 has Bigger Hits, Bigger Action, and Bigger Taunts.
The taunts do get out of control some times. After sprinting down field for first down, a linebacker will swing you around by your ankles, rip off his helmet, at talk about your momma while your thinking "But dude, I got the first down."
This time around when you make a quick strike into the backfield to sack the QB, you actually hear thunder when you take him down, complete with lightning and a shaking screen. To paraphrase one of the hundreds of taunts included "Now THAT's what I'm talking about!"
The AI puts up a good fight and doesn't seem to resort to cheating (One of our pet peeves, your leading by 14 and you fumble For the 3rd time in a row). 989 aimed squarely for an arcade title this time and still managed to keep the game fair but challenging.
