Bomberman Generation: Four men, bomb-to-bomb, no jury, no appeal, no parole. Four Bomberman enter, one man leaves. While his isn't quite Thunderdome, the action is just as durable as that found in the classic Mad Max series.
The Bomberman franchise has always been about explosive multi-player insanity. This portion has been juiced for the GameCube with Reversi, Coin, Dodge and Revenge being added to the standard battle plan. More importantly, the action carries the heart attack pace found in the SNES version. The characters are more defined and cel shaded but the action doesn't have to slow down to acclimate this.
The single player game in any Bomberman title has always been second string. This Generation moves the solo experience into the starting lineup. It uses the same platformer style of recent Bomberman GBA titles and focuses more on light puzzle solving than actual button pounding action. Some "got to catch them all" Charabomb pets and quality mini-games help to flesh out the single-player experience. It's good to see Hudson using their Mario Party skills with the Bomberman series.
Bomberman Generation is an excellent game on both single and multi player level. Mark it next to chips, dip and Code Red as requirements for your next party. Just remember: Don't drink and bomb, the designated Bomberman always wins.
