Despite the supposedly dark theme and brooding atmosphere, The Black Mirror is a dim and uninspired adventure.
Though the backgrounds are well-drawn, the character animations are slow and sleep-inducing. Terrible voice acting melds with this somnolent pace to create a complete picture of boredom.
The game is typical of many modern adventure games in that it requires you to engage in a series of interminable conversations with annoying characters. After completing one conversation, you must go to another relative to continue the stroy's progress, when, lo and behold, you are prompted to speak with the first guy to learn something he could have told you the first time around.
The early chapters have too much talk and too few puzzles. By the time the puzzles pick up in number, you find that you are too tired of running around like an errand boy to care about which room the widget you need is in.
None of the puzzles are too difficult, so if you don't mind the pace you can probably solve the adventure pretty quickly.
