I First picked this game up because I played the demo in a walmart. I figured the intensity of the level in wallmart would be in a few levels in the game. I decided that it was worth the money just for those few levels and purchased it. Much to my surpise Playing through the game I found every level was at a level of intensity close to the level they had for a demo at walmart.
Firstoff Ill talk about the graphics i experienced while playing the game. At first glance a player may not think it is very special However, it doesn't take long before the a player will start noticing some very nice looking effects. The smoke, for example, is some of the best looking smoke i have seen in a game. Another effect that makes the game look realistic is the affects the guns have when they hit objects. For example, if you are shooting at an enemy behind some sandbags and hit the bag, the player will see dust fly up from where it hit. I feel that this is a small detail that can be overlooked easily, but tends to make the realism in the game much better.
The sound in the game is Stunning. not only do you hear whats going on in your general area but in the bacground you can hear the sound of gunfire and explosions from other battles that are going on nearby. Also, the other soldiers in the game are constantly communicating. this communication makes you feel much more imersed in the game.
The AI in the game is very well done. As i mentioned before, the other soldiers are constantly communicating. Well, this communication is actuall on par with what is going on in the game. I have not seen this in too many games and was impressed when i played through the game.
Unfourtunately, the games greatness does not go unflawed. The multiplayer aspect of the game is not as good as it could be. The servers seem to lag and there is an 8 player maximum online. with the singleplayer game having countless enemys i expected the multiplayer to have at least part of the intensity the campaign had.
One gripe i do have with the single player campaign is the unlimited grenades the enemys seem to have. When a player is working on the higher difficulties it seems like the player is sometimes being held down by multiple grenades for too long.
The story
What can i say? Its another WWII game. They seem overused to some people but i felt this game was different. You are not playing one character throughout the whole game. In the game you go through the story of three men. Not only that but the story of the war from the perspective of three countries. Sure the WWII game may be getting a bit over used, but i feel this game pulls it off good enough for its use to be justified.
Replay Value in this game is very good. there are 4 difficulties to play and the acheivements tend to keep you playing. The game on the easier difficulties seems short, but if a player goes through on veteran, her or she will be held for, albet frustrating, hours more.
If you are wanting some intense battles unlike anything you have seen pick this game up. You will be impressed by how well this game flows and how often you are shooting your gun.
