An RPG card based game Published by Activision and Developed by From Software, the same developers of the first LK. As a whole this game looks noticably improved over the previous one which was one of the few RPG's on GameCube. First of all it starts like this, you play as Tara Grimeface (what a name), who has a magic stone which controls the monsters you summon out of your deck. Similar to the first installment, but with major two additions. One, the cards are now double, instead of 100 cards in the game, its 200, thats what we wanted, 200 quality cards. Two, you are free to battle anywhere on the screen. Along with other enhancements like graphics, sound etc.
Gameplay: 8/10
The game plays well, those familiar with the first will know this,'B', 'A', 'Y' and 'X' summons monsters, shoulder buttons to control camera angles. Another thing to notice is that there are sveral types of cards, fire, grass, water, etc, and another thing is the way the card works, you can either summon a walking monster, where it stays on the field till it dies, an attack monster where he hits when you press the button and then vanishes, a summon monster where you can summon him, powerful usually and you can choose his attack, he then dies and finally the transform monsters where you transform into them and play normally.
Graphics: 7/10
Improved since the last one, but still lacks the smooth texture, the environments aren't too detailed but are overal fine. The facial animations aren't bad. The monsters looks ok. The FMV's are great, too bad the graphics doesn't match up.
Sound: 7/10
Some levels has good music, the most annoying one was the second level, it looked like an old SNES music. The sound effects aren't bad and Tara don't speak, until the end of the game I guess and even its a small sentence. The voice acting is good.
Life Span: 9/10
Ok know this game has some flaws, but thanks to the 200 cards in the game it will take you a good time to complete it and take all the cards. You can evolve some while others have to be earned. You can finish the game pretty easily if you went through it without improving you deck, although it will be difficult as the final boss isn't that simple. The good thing is after you finish the game, an extra level appears, it contains almost countless areas, where you start with the fire are that contains 4 levels, and move through the water, green, phsycic etc. And whats better is everytime you finish a level or a mission, you can earn cards, randomly. Most levels has treasure boxes which contains cards or gems (money), many of these boxes can't be unlocked at the meantime so you must get transform cards to unlock them, like reaching another cliff can be done by transforming into a flying monster. Another great point about the game is its mutiplayer option, do you want a card which your friend has it? Then put it and one of your cards on the line in a deathmatch using your deck and him using his, and see who really deserves to take it all.
Overall: 8/10
Obvious improvement over the previous one, got double the amount of cards the previous one had. Has a decent story line and well designed monsters. The multiplayer is a blast of fun especially when you bet. Collecting all the cards won' be easy so you will keep coming to it again and again. Tara Grimface isn't a decent name but she looks good. The bonus level at the end of the game is a good point where you can collect your remaining cards from there. Some faults are in the graphics, yes it is improved but not that detailed. For those to play it the first time, the camera will be annoying a bit but as you get used to control it you will get used to the game and enjoy it to it's most.
