Formula = Robots + Keep Collecting + Scrap x Crap = Robots
Now here is something Vivendi Universal studious are famous for, turning a beautiful and great movies into lame and stupid games. It is clear that this game is certainly aimed at children but however, the fun factor should be there even when making a game for a huge movie! Robots starts off with a cut sequence from the movie and you will have to collect the nuts and scrap around the Robot City by jumping , sliding and hanging. In other words, you start off in a training mission taking the role of Rodney the robot. So you are in this city with trucks going round and round and after collecting the pieces, your father assembles your Wonderbot that accompanies you throughout your missions. The story goes on from there relatively to the movie.
Gameplay (5/10):
Jump, hit, shoot, aim, move around, get frustrated and annoyed by the stupid camera is all a routine for Vivendi and this game is no exception. Starting off as tiny Rodney, you can just kick and jump while moving around in addition to sliding in a lame way, it is not a football match Rooney! You then get upgraded to a more matured Rodney with Wonderbot as you partner and helps with your missions by getting to places Rodney can not. You can do missions by talking to the town folks. After completing the training mission, you receive your weapon a scrap shooter and you can switch to first person view to use it more accurately. It is very important to take into account that the camera tilt is very bad indeed and the aiming is even worse. Since the tilt is that bad, jumping on platforms gets annoying gradually and when an enemy hits you from behind un noticeably, it will take time for you to gain control. The decent thing is that in progression, you pass along a retro machine that allows you to save and upgrade your inventory and this decent (probably only) section allows you to upgrade your inventory from tons of different types.
Graphics (7/10):
Nice cartoony animations and lovely levels. The robots looks cool and movie like with familiar faces from the movies accurately done. Some interactive environments while others frozen solid. The whole game is about robots and collecting scraps and nuts so a lot of them will be found around the game. The enemies are like those stated in the movie but not as smooth. They look cool but dodgy at times. Rodney has a double jump but what can it do in front of the power of the bad camera that makes exploring the beautiful environments annoying?!
Sound (7/10):
Official voice acting is there and all but still, since you talk to someone on the street, you can not hit them or hear them scream. The sound effects are lame. It is all about robots clashing in a childish way with nothing new to offer or remember. The in game music is decent and most sounds you will be hearing is directly from the movie.
Life-Span (5/10):
The story mode can be completed quickly but the main question is will the player tolerate the annoying camera tilt? Nothing interesting to be unlocked and the only thing cool in this game is the vending machine in the game that allows tons of upgrading mostly for Wonderbot who will be a lot of help in the game and it required for pressing far away switches and bringing home some accessories and items. There is a decent collection for fans that can be purchased from the vending machine that may help in keeping the player going.

What can I say?! Another bad movie tie-in. It still manages to satisfy hardcore movie lovers of the Robots with its beautiful graphics and voice talent as well as the story path and upgrade system. You can go through hand to hand combat or bust your enemies up with your firing gun to turn enemies into nuts and bolts for your collection. So scrap and bolts are you money for spending on upgrades, items and collections. All the fun that this game could have been spoiled by the lame camera tilt and inaccurate shooting system makes this game a mediocre childish title.
Advice:
Since many kids out there who watched the movie will be wanting this title, it is appropriate to say that for a kid, he will enjoy such a game but it is sorry that the camera tilt could not be any better! It is definitely worth a rent for hardcore fans but it is definitely not worth purchasing especially at its full price!
Good Points:
1- Nice big levels indicating the movies atmosphere.
2- Talented voice share.
3- Decent upgrading system with some cool collectives.
Bad Points:
1- Awkward camera tilt.
2- Lame shooting system.
3- Battles can become unfairly difficult due to tilt.
4- Jumping and collecting is most of what you will be doing here.
