Released way back in 1994, Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time. So I've been waiting a long time to play this, another true 2D Metroid. Does it live up to the legacy of Super Metroid? In many important aspects it does, since the crazy-fun core Metroid gameplay remains intact. However, the music is not nearly as memorable and exploration is more limited now that there are navigation rooms detailing exactly what you need to do or where you need to go. This is a big change from the previous Metroids where you had no idea what to do or where to go, and your only option was to explore. If you looking for an innovative Metroid game that preserves this part of the Metroid experience look no further than Metroid Prime (as long as you turn off the hint system). As it stands, Metroid Fusion is still a great game and a fine example of why Metroid is the best game series ever.
