I find it odd that critics now say that Donkey Kong Country was over-rated, that the only good thing about the game was its amazing graphics. Just because the graphics don't have that "Wow!" factor anymore and that platformers have evolved doesn't mean this was a great game 9 years ago when it released. Hell, I still consider it a great game. This game had amazing platforming gameplay and a huge game world with a incredible variety of levels. I think that this game introduced the buddy system that I see in some platformers today. Donkey Kong Country made a huge impact a decade ago, and nothing can change that. This is the game that made me forget about Super Mario World.
