Capcom has been making fighters for a long time. They are expected to make great fighters, and they do not disappoint with Marvel vs. Capcom 2. This game is the absolute best when it comes to 2D quick paced fighting. I didn't say best 2D game, because I think this game is in a tie with Capcom vs. SNK 2 for best 2D, but they are really different types of 2D fighters.
Ever since X-men: Children of the Atom appeared in the video game scene, this game has had many incarnations, in the form of Marvel Super Heroes, X-men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, and now Marvel vs. Capcom 2. This installment is by far the best, improving on many features, such as the 3D backgrounds, having ALL the characters from the previous versus series games, and having a new 3v3 combat system. The only thing that is no longer available is the custom combo where you could bring in 2 characters and do custom combos, including super-combo moves. The new chain super-combo system adds much to the already quick-paced fighting system. This game is also gamer friendly as it can be a button masher, but one will soon learn that an experienced gamer will completely destroy a button masher at this game. Combos are the only way to truly gain dominance in this game. The only thing bad I can say doesn't really have anything to do with the game, but it seems that this may be the last of the quick paced VS. series for a while. Capcom dished it all out by putting EVERY character into the game. Now for the next series, they'll have to make entirely new characters. That may take some time. I certainly hope I'm wrong! Either way, I recommend this game to any person who remotely likes fighters, or to any Marvel or Capcom fan.
