I have always been a fan of tactical RPGs. I loved both FFT games and ogre battle games etc.
I have never played Disgaea so this is going to be coming from a different perspective than all of the reviews that I have read where they compare it very closely to disgaea.
La Pucelle's battle system is very fun and addictive, I have a hard time putting the game down, I love when my characters learn new skills because they are all pretty fun to watch and see what they are capable of.
I also like how you can set up the classes yourself, you can switch items from one tank character to a caster and boom the caster becomes a tank (albeit not as good of one at the start).
Another thing I like about this game is that you can get just about any enemy to join your team. I love the feeling of using the dark sides own monsters from throughout the game against them.
The story in La Pucelle is a very good one. I'm not going to go into the details because all you need to know is that it pulls you in and doesn't let go. It starts out slow but after awhile you grow fond of your characters as you go through the game. RPG's that lack that aspect are never as good.
The graphics are very old school which I like a lot. They look like a very polished playstation game. They may not be anything special but the artwork in the game is very good, it makes up for the lack of quality graphics. I can kind of see why they took that path with the graphics because they can do so much more with the core of the game by not concentrating entirely on graphics. This game is a perfect example of how awesome graphics does not a good game make.
Overall I think anyone with an interest in good solid tactical RPG's should go out and buy La Pucelle now while you still can, it won't be available much longer and ever if you don't play it right away you can rest easy knowing you have your copy.(I was a originally going to buy Disgaea but its been discontinued already).
