I have to commend Capcom for not bowing into pressure and changing the Resident Evil gameplay. Many do not like the static camera and clunky controls but I'm not one of them. I find the pre-rendered backgrounds so beautiful and atmosperic (especially the moving train) and the static camera adds to the fear factor by not letting you see what's coming up even though you can hear the zombies coming. I loved resident evil for gamecube and this one is even better. The co-op element works so well that it is impossible to complete the game without it and is something we've never see in a RE game before. You can now drop objects anywhere which eliminates alot of the backtracking RE is known for. You still have to conserve ammo and use typewriters for saves and this will never change because it is deeply rooted in RE's basic strategy. One complaint I have is how Capcom got rid of the controler setup from the original that allowed the player to use the top R button to move the character forward so you only had to use the control stick for turning. Now the R button is used exclusively for for getting in you shooting stance. It worked well in the original because the harder you pressed on the R button the faster you would walk or run. Now if you want to run you have to use the B button and it cannot be changed. It took me a while to get used to but becomes intuitive after a while. Overall this game is a must for Gamecube owners.
