This is an ok game. It's a strange sort of an arcade platformer type of genre. All platformer components are there – there's tokens collecting, jumping, shooting and various enemies. There's significantly less puzzle-solving than in a normal platformer – hence why I called it arcade. The weaponry and characters of choice are quite lavish; the game has that pastelly rich colorful feel of a Midway arcade game.
There is no storyline and the depth of gameplay wears out thin after you complete the first couple of levels. The mechanics of GDL are quite respectable nonetheless – the camera is decent and the controls feel fine. The tempo of the game is zany and sensory-overloading, soon after you start playing you will be cross-eyed with all the jumping, shooting and above all the fast pace of the action.
In summary this is game that has its merits which unfortunately competes in a make-shift genre. If you are craving for a platformer fix you'd much rather pick up Maximo, or Ratchet and Clank, or Sly, or Jak and Daxter.
