This isn't a game to write home about. Quake 3 is an arcade shooter where button mashing prevails over strategy and realism. If it weren't for its shooter roots I would have given Quake a score lower than 4; there isn't much to gameplay here other than the quick deathmatch with friends which get boring quickly.
The graphics are atrocious and the sound resembles a July 4th celebration. Back in the day when it came out Quake was cool and gory and somewhat racy, since then we've witnessed the births of so many quality sim and arcade shooters alike that Quake seems like a long-forgotten mediocre dream. There really isn't much else to add about this title – imagine Timesplitters without the special sauce and you'll get Quake. Quake is a twin game to Unreal Championship – if you in that type of gaming it's your cup of tea, it's definitely not mine though.
