Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 is a new game in the long franchise of Resident Evil. If you are a RE or a veteran of the previous Outbreak, you will feel right at home. If not, I'd suggest starting your RE experience with another title.
Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 is more of an add-on than an all out sequel to the first Outbreak. It has five new scenarios and a few new abilities for each character. For one example, you can now move and shoot at the same time, which in all honesty, is very useful. It also has mini games you can unlock in the Collection menu of the game. This ranges from enemy battles to fighting bosses from both games in a row.
The graphics are some of the best on the PS2. The only complaint are the shadows(just either a big ball or stick and circle shadows for each character). Lets hope that with the next installment, they can polish that up.
Online play is supposed to be a big seller of this, and the online game is the same as last installment's. You connect with up to three other people for a zombie frag-fest. The only real downside to this is there is NO.WAY.OF.COMMUNICATING.PROPERLY. Capcom needs to work on this as well.
Another thing that brings my score for it down somewhat is the load screens and times. Sure, the times are cut down somewhat from the previous version, but they are blank screens while loading! That is sooo boring after you have been..say...chased by a pack of hunger-crazed zombies then have to stop all the tension and fear just to load another area. It just takes the fear factor out of it completely.
If you are a fan, buy it. If you want to start in the RE games, start with something else.
