This game is spooky.  It's not so much the atmosphere, or the creatures that are spooky...so much as the insane story, and the sanity effects that will have you questioning your own sanity.

Let's begin there shall we? The sanity effects.  That's really the bread and butter of this game.  You have a sanity meter.  When enemies see you, that meter drops.  Killing those enemies regains that sanity.  However...if you don't regain sanity...your character will start to "trip out".  From mild things like hearing random banging on the doors, and blood dripping down the walls, to things like watching your files on your memory card be erased when you're trying to save, or watching your character explode when taking a health powerup.  The thing is...you never know when it's coming, and it WILL freak you out the first time you see each effect.

On to the gameplay.  It's fairly simple, hold down the "R" button, aim at the body part you want to shoot, and fire with the "A" button.  Pretty straight forward.  My weapons of choice are shotguns, and various swords.  But that's just me.

I wouldn't really say that Eternal Darkness is a "Survival Horror" game as much as i would say that it's an "Action Horror" game.  You don't really need to conserve ammo very often, and you don't have to run from battle.  In fact, running from battle only penalizes you!  Well, i recommend this game for anyone over 17 with a 'cube who likes to be scared and have fun in the process.  Great game, go buy it!
