Sim City 4 is possibly one of the best games I have ever played. What first strikes you whgen you begin is the sheer detail - houses have backyards with trees and kids swimming in pools or, if it is in a bad neighbourhood, a chalk outline with police tape around it. And the more you play, the better and better it gets, with huge skyscrapers as detailed as the smaller buildings. You can fund just about everything how you want, controlling the amount of teachers in schools, doctors in hospitals, water, power and other utilities at your whim. One of the most interesting aspects, tohugh, is the introduction of regional play. Although Simcity 3000 had a 'region' the next door cities had very little impact on your city, and always seemed to be able to shoot ahead in population for some reason, while your city was sitting at 5000 people or so. In SimCity 4 however, you control all the regional cities as well, giving you the ability to create huge metropolises spanning a dozen maps. Cities seem to be fully in proportion to their size, and given the regional aspect, populations of millions do not seem so far fetched. The amount of stuff crammed into this game is so astounding I couldn't list it all here, but rest assured this is one of the most beautiful, most deatiled, most engrossing sims out there.
