And rebuild it they did. While Sega made an impressive showing with Virtua Fighter 4 back in 2001, the newly updated version of the game (known to most of us as Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution) may be one of, if not THE best 3D fighting game (non-weapons based) ever created. The graphics are much better this time around, with improved lighting, and fewer "shiny textures" (some of the backgrounds from VF4 also take place at different, and more appropriate times of day). The music has also changed for the better, although you might not pay attention to it at first. Though I'm disappointed that Sega took out the Kumite and A.I. Training modes from the original VF4, I'm MUCH more pleased by the game's Quest mode, which has you playing against other VF competitors throughout (I think) Japan. It's much easier to get a high ranking here than it was in Kumite mode, so your road to the top isn't as frustrating. The controls haven't changed much from before, so VF4 veterans should feel right at home with this. And best of all, it comes at an extremely affordable price...$20! You simply can't beat that with a game of this quality.
