Once again the socalled professional reviewers (well many of them) got a miss on how good this game really is. If you are a fan of GTA series this one is right up that alley, but, with more realism and a little less brainless killing anyone you please and stealing any vehicle you please without immediate consequences. But, unlike GTA you can buy police and the FBI in the form of a bribe and then get away with murder to a certain degree.

It has some aspects of Gangland also where you can take over businesses and rackets in the back of those businesses for added income in the game. Also like Gangland the higher you get in rank the more of the business and racket income you will get.

Combat is more realistic in that unlike GTA where you can stand out in the open and blast away for considerable amounts of time, in GF you better use walls, cover of crates, counters, and crouching or you'll find yourself dead within a matter of seconds.

The game follows the storyline of the movie the Godfather fairly well though not fluently, if you can get by this little nitpick of a thing the game is really "great".

It does have console elements you'll have to get used to like targeting requires you holding a button or the right mouse key down while using other buttons to fire or do specials like slapping people around or breaking their necks, etc. There is a pretty good learning curve getting used to this feature, perhaps an hour max. Once you pass this then the rest of the game is "great".

Probably the most nitipick thing that the kids/teenagers won't be able to overcome is the required replenishment of ammunition pretty much after each encounter of great numbers. I personally like this realism, but, I suspect the kids/teenagers will make an immediate run for the "cheat code" for refilling ammo without all the running back n forth. Same for health points, you're going to get shot up and shot up a lot and you'll need to visit clinics or the hospital or your safe houses (free heals here) for getting full health. Sometimes some missions or heavy battles will actually drop a health potion so if you wait for the right time you won't have to goto the other places to get healed.

I personally give the game 8.5 (10 here because of the dweebs that just vote 1 and don't even have the game and never leave a review) and would have given better, but, the learning curve for the PC is a headache until you get used to it, then you think, well this isn't hard at all. I would have preferred target lock on pressing a button, not having to continously hold it down.
