With the hype that I seen that Jak 2 received as I worked at Gamestop, I wanted to get into the Jak universe myself. Of course, I wanted to start with the original. So, spending $15 on this game almost 3 years after it came out, I went off to get a nice little treat. The only shame in this now is that I no longer have my PS2. Jak and Daxter is a cute, overall fun game.
The graphics are a little outdated, and as I do not know what graphical standards were during this game's release, I wouldn't really have a clue how the graphics were compared to its time's standards. However, in today's standards, it is very outdated and very bland. Especially as I compare them to Jak 2's visual style, I am not impressed.
The Gameplay mixes a good blend of story, free roaming adventure, puzzle solving, and combat. The game is at heart a free roaming game in the same vein as Zelda, but its still original and it is not a rip-off. With regret, I did not play this game that much to get an overall feel for it, but I have played enough to know that this game is still very enjoyable.
The music and sound is decent. The music sets the mood properly for each diverse environment and no sound in the game was annoying.
Overall, Jak and Daxter was a cute game that was fun to play. With regret, I no longer have my PS2 so I could further explore this universe.
