The only thing keeping Beyond Good and Evil from being perfect is its disappointing length. This game is rather short, but it is by far, the best Adventure game this generation. It's even easily better than the mediocre Wind Waker.
The Graphics have a completely unique visual style. The Graphics in general are beautiful, a perfect 10 in graphics. The art style is also fresh and unique. The characters all have amazing designs that fit the style well. This game I dare say also has the best looking water I have ever seen in a Video Game. The building and vehicles all look fantastic.
The Gameplay is what sells this game. The game at heart is a free-roaming adventure. The main means of transportation is the hovercraft which mainly is used on water. The water travel is also so much better than Wind Waker's.
The Gamer follows the story of Jade. Jade first is an owner of a lighthouse with her uncle Pey'j. Jade and Pey'j adopt orphans whose parents are captured by the DomZ. The DomZ is an alien race waging war on the society controlled by the Alpha Sections. However, the Alpha Sections hold a dark secret over the people they are protecting. It is up to Jade to unveil this conspiracy. Jade gets her assignments from the IRIS network, which publishes a newspaper against the Alpha sections and it secretly aligned with the governance of the local planet.
The Game has mainly has the gamer guide Jade through a wide array of dungeons taking pictures to help her reveal the conspiracy. The combat uses both Stealth and Head-on combat. When the gamer is infiltrating Alpha Section bases, she must use stealth to either sneak up or sneak past the guards. Other than that, the combat used to fight off monsters is great. Context Sensitive Tapping the A button is the main combat command.
In the dungeons, there are a wide variety of puzzles that are the perfect difficulty for all gamers.
The music and sound could not be better. Perfect background music is used for each environment to give absolute immersion.
Overall, Beyond Good and Evil is a terrific game that fans of Adventure game must have. This is easily a contender for Game of the Year.
