Breakdown is a game that goes more after story and epic presentation rather than core gameplay.  The game does have decent gameplay, but the Graphics, Story, and Presentation are obviosuly the priorities but into the development of this game.

The Graphics as said are absolutly stunning.  I was blown away at the graphical detail placed during gameplay.  Each character has a high amount of detail placed into them with great and diverse environments.  The game is a visual treat.  If this is not eye candy, I don't want to know what is.

While the Graphics are stunning, gameplay takes a hit.  Not that bad of a hit, but obviously, Namco needs to learn some of the finer things of an FPS development.  While the game is still decent as a game though.  The shooting is a little off.  There always seems to be a shortage on ammo, so the gamer must make sure each shot is not wasted.  The same goes for grenades.  There is a time to use grenades and times not to use them.  If all else fails, the first person hand to hand fighting comes in handy and is actually quite fun.  There are some combos to be pulled off using the triggers, plus with manuvering like backflips, this game gets a little more bearable.  All of these moves are done in the first person view.  However, the game feels a little sluggish in the execution of each gameplay mechanic.

The Game is deep in terms of story.  It follows the sci-fi story of Derrick Cole, who wakes up from a hospital bed with no memories and only an interesting female character to help him.  The story gets a little off the wall (Leave it to the Japanese to let their imaginations run wild), but the story is a lot better than other FPSs.

Music and Sound is top notch.  Amazing sounds tracks are played at the right times along with cool sound effects for a great treat for the ears.

Overall, Breakdown is a game that goes for style and presentation rather than solid Gameplay.  It's an enjoyable game if one can get past the sluggish aspects of the gameplay.
