With more intricate levels and a stronger story line than the Dooms of the world Half Life paved the way for many sequels. As well as setting a standard for which many FPS are compared.
Graphically the game is very good and the frame...

I found Half-life to be an immersive game with an excellent storyline. The graphics were state of the art for when the game was released but feel dated compared to some of the newer games. Half-life has definitely raised the bar of FPS from where...

This game has redefined the FPS gaming genre as it moved away from mindless killing like the Doom series and moved into story based action. The plot is wel-meshed and the presentation comes off movie-style. You feel attached to your...

Half-Life is the game that really started my interest in the FPS genre. Sure, I had fiddled with Wolfenstein 3D before, but that game was too simplistic. Sure, I had played Doom and Quake before, but those games had no story and just didn't pull...

You could go back into history and review all these types of games, but i think we need to set a baseline. In the beginning there was Unreal. The games graphics were just beyong this world, and i think it was the mmain reason that VIPER SVGA cards...

What more can be said about the most talked about and successful FPS of all time? Not much really.
So good it caused the developers no end of problems attempting to beat what had come before, Half Life blew mindless shooters like Doom,...

This game, in my opinion, created a great story. This game is about a scientist in a base and because of his little mistake, he created a dimension portal for aliens to come into our world. Than he's mission is to get out of the base alive. On...

9.0/10 This is a very well done first person shooter (FPS) with an in depth story line. There are lots of cool weapons and the enemies have fairly descent AI. The environments change throughout the game so it doesn't get boring and you can...

VALVe Software traversed a long and dirty road to bring us this title, and it was all worth it. It was actually scrapped back in 1997 and remade so quickly it was released in 1998 instead. Pretty impressive, 'eh?

If you can believe it, I just recently got a chance to play this classic game. All this hype about Half Life two, which should be out any day now, got me interested in the first one and from what I was told, I had to play. I am glad to say that...

A little late for a review for such a great game. I'll try to keep it short.
I'll start with what I felt was the best feature of the game, the story. This particular game had a story that was so well crafted that it sounded like it...

The first thing I think of whenever I replay this game is, 'They don't make games like this anymore'. I'm utterly shocked by the level design and game play experience each and every single time I play this. The pacing is as good as any game can...

Half-Life is one of those few legendary titles that come along. One of those games that do everything right; graphics, sound, and gameplay all.
Graphics are great for its time, though their dated in todays standards of course. Sound...

I want to be honest, when I've heard about this game I told myself "This will be a crappy game", because it's not developed by ID (the FPS Masters) even it uses the ID technology.
Well guys, then the game came out, I've started to read the...

1998 was the year that FPS games took a very heavy part of my life away. Half-Life was released, and it sucked my brains and melted my eyes because I stared at my computer screen for a good 5 hours a day...playing single player and TFC. Here's the...

Half-life is the model to which all future FPS will be held. Excellent enemy AI, a flowing world and story that feels real, even as it becomes more and more surreal. Biggest flaw is it's linear game play. It only vaguely offers the illusion of...

I think this game gets such a high review rating due to inexperienced PC users voting on their best game at the time.
This was the just about best pc first person shooter in it's day, but certainly not the best any format...
