This game could have been truly great, just like it's offline counterparts. I had already played The Sims since they first came up, I pre-ordered the online version from EA knowing for sure that it was going to be a great hit, unofrtunately it wasn't and don't get me wrong, the game is nice but the lack of any serious objectives or goals of any kind really tend to hurt the game experience at some points.
I played it for a month and then just stopped playing anymore, because the pathces and updates for the game came up in a somewhat strange way considering how serious EA is about this game. After the month I played it I realized I was just in some sort of huge social experiment chat room, I already had a big house, lots of stuff, lots of friends, and yes that's all entertaining for a while, but just for that while in terms of the average video gamer. We are used to goal oriented games or open endeded gameplay but to my taste this is way to open-ended to appeal to the huge crowds that play the regular offline sims.
I returned the game and cancelled my EA account for the reasons above but mainly because I play on the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox just like most fellas do and I came to realize that I was not having any fun at all playing The Sims online after that time I spent playing the game.
Again I wanna say, don't get me wrong the game is good but aimed to a very special, different kind of crowd, for instance I have two female friends who love the game and play it at every chance they get, but then again, they don't exactly enjoy playing PS2, Xbox or Gamecube.
The game was a truly amazing idea but it came short to expectations the lack of goals or bjectives really hurt the game at the exact moment you want, you expect more from the game.
Overall, The Sims online is a good experience if you are looking for something different and you want to chat a lot and I mean a lot with other people, in other words this game is not for everyone be sure to try if you can before you buy, the game looks like the regular sims but is headed towards another market and most platform gamers will find it boring after a few months, even days or hours depending on taste. I belive it is good that there are games for everyone and for every kind of taste and liking and this game does an outstanding job at fulfilling that specific market share. I only wish EA had told us (regular gamers who wanted to try this game) that the game was going to be in many ways so different from The Sims offline. Thanks for reading.
