Ever since Virtua Tennis came out, I thought no game could come close to the addicting gameplay of it. And I was right, until I bought Top Spin.
Top Spin is an Xbox exclusive hit (Part of the XSN Sports on Xbox) and has proven itself to be all that Virtua Tennis was and more.
You first start off in Career mode as the number 100 ranked in the world. You must go to tennis schools that teach you what you need to know. There is a serving, backhand, forehand, and volley school. Once you have mastered the ones you want to know, its time to compete in tournaments. There is the minor-pro, Pro, and Grand Slam. Each very challanging. You also get to perform T.V. commercials for money, and sponsorships with big name brands. You can change your outfit and your look whenever you want.
The graphics are really well done. The characters face is life like, and the courts you play on have good textures. A 10/10 on graphics.
The sound is ok. It would have been better if it supported custom soundtracks, but it doesn't hold anything down. The sound of the racket hitting the ball and court are convincing.
The online feature is by far the best in the game. XSN sports have been a little iffy with other games, but with Top Spin, it works really well. You can go up agaisnt any of your freinds, or you can set up doubles. Doubles online is really fun, and very addicting.
The replay value is high, especailly when playing online. Overall, a 9/10, and well worth $50.
