If you haven't bought SimCity 4, then I hope that this review will help you to make the right decision.
I bought SimCity 4 a week before and I have been playing it daily 2 – 3 hours but still I am not able to clear a single stage and get bankrupt in just 30 – 40 minutes.
Hey…! That doesn't mean that I am a total jerk in these types of games and don't know how to play. I accept that this is my 1st "SimCity" title but I have played "Pharaoh" and "Zeus: The Master of Olympus" and cleared quiet large number of stages.
The worst thing that I came across in this game that it is totally a non-user friendly game. I mean a beginner can't play this game more than half an hour before running out of cash. Anyhow the sounds and graphics are quiet impressive (if you have a good graphics card like Geforce 4 or Radeon 9500).
I would rate this game as,
Graphics: 8 out of 10
Sound: 7 out of 10
Game play: 4 out of 10
Value for money: 3 out of 10
Total: 5.5 out of 10 (55%)
According to PCGAMER magazine this rating (50-60%) means,
"A score for games that suffer no major problems but somehow fail to be more than sum of their parts. A few niggles may annoy, but big fans of the genre will get some entertainment here. The less committed won't be so interested."
