They did a LOT of things right, and I hope they are imitated in future games. The persistent battlefield, "instant action" option, and training systems are all great. If BF1942 had these features I'd never stop playing it.
Team play is excellent and you really get the feeling of being part of a HUGE war.
Two items keep this game from being a 10: First, this game needs a TON of resources to run right. Even on my 2.5 gHz, 512MB RAM, and GeForce 4 Ti, I experience some client-side slowdown when there's lots of stuff on the screen. Secondly, $12.95 a month is a bit much to pay for what is essentially "Tribes 2.5". It's not like they need to have a CSR staff and dynamic quest stuff like EQ does.
