This is one of the most amazing games I have ever played. I've always loved the Final Fantasy series, and this game is no different. The graphics are the best in any PS2 RPG to date. The music is excellent, it fits in perfectly with every scene. This is one of the few games where you actually care about the characters.
Instead of the usual "fight battles, gain experience points, level up" concept, FFX has something called the sphere grid system. When you win a battle, you earn sphere points. These sphere points are used to improve your stats by following a path on a grid and "spending" them on HP, MP, and new abilities. The battle system is also different from previous games. FFX uses the turn-based system. The turn order is displayed in the top right of the screen, so you never have to guess whose turn it is. A great addition the the battles is the active swap system. This allows you to swap characters in and out of battle at any time, which is extremely helpful.
There are so many positives about this game that they dwarf the few negative aspects there might be. The voice-acting is not the best, but is still solid enough to keep it from being a problem. This game is very linear, which could be good or bad, depending on your preferences.
If you like RPGs at all, you should definitely have this in your collection. Even if RPGs aren't your thing, this is a great game that will provide any gamer with hours of enjoyment. It's easily one of my favorite games of all time.
