This game is being severely under rated because of the Lumines phenomena (Which, in the words of a Game Informer reviewer is near religious experience which I agree with). The game physics are spectacular and despite it's almost universal comparison to Marble Madness which was popular back in the 1900's it remains quite a game and in my opinion, a work of art. As you may know, you guide a drop of Mercury through mazes to reach a goal for which you recieve a score and ranking. Some mazes you have to split the mercury and change it's color and manipulate them (by tilting the maze with the analog nub) to finish them.
My only complaint is that you should be able to freely fly the camera around the maze BEFORE you start to see the windmills you must joust to achieve the goal. Instead, the camera takes one lap around the maze and then starts you. This means an inordinate amount of trial and error just to figure out the maze and then your work begins to actually solve it which can be a formidible task indeed.
The camera controls which seem complicated but are easy to pick up are impressive but sometimes lacking in reaching the "sweet spot" of some of the mazes.
I would highly recommend this game to anyone, but those who enjoy "mental flossing" would enjoy this the most.
Again, the physics of this game are amazing and if you really think about what you are seeing, it really shows of the power of the PSP and blows the impressive 2D tricks of Lumines away.
I'm not sure who this Archer Maclean is, but he is certainly a genius with a huge ego. An ego that is exceeded only by his creative brilliance.
