The gameplay is the best aspect of this game. There are key battles which must be completed to progress the game and then there are random battles, which have to be completed as well. The player has to raise an army of soldiers with different jobs. Those soldiers are used to battle. The game is challenging and it will take you a good 45 hours to finish. There are many extra things to do, job classes to unlock, treasures to find and characters to obtain that the game can take more then 80 hours to fully complete
The environments are perfectly presented and very well done. The sprite characters with polygon backgrounds look great. The sprites are really high quality. The special effects are great. The graphics are simple but they work very will with the game. Sometimes the landscape can block the view of the enemy. The FMVs (only 2) are also great. Most of the story is revealed through the use of cut-scenes.
The sound is great. Nothing spectacular but it sounds just fine. The sound effects are always on target. The music is great as well. Not many bad tracks, but there aren't many standout tracks either.
The story is enjoyable and confusing. You are a noble and a soldier in training. You have to fight the resistance of peasants who constantly blame nobles for their troubles. The story in split up into four chapters and is full of blackmail, treason, war and corruption. The plot twists are great and there are many of them. The thing is that the story is so broad and there are so many events and people to keep track of that it becomes confusing. But many things can be ignored and the story will remain enjoyable.
Final words: This is a great tactics game and offers deep gameplay.
