The gameplay is outstanding. The lock on targeting lets you lock on to an enemy for direct one on one like combat but at the same time, you can switch enemies very quickly. Or you can just go all out and attack without locking on. There are a variety of enemies and bosses, each requiring a different strategy to beat. But the wide arrays of weapons offer many different ways to fight enemies. There are many weapons and upgrades for Link such as weapons, health and magic. The dungeons designs are great and they have some very well thought out puzzles. You will need different items and equipment to continue the game. There are also some fun mini-games. The game alone won't take more then 20 or 25 hours to finish, but there are many side quests and other things to do that will keep you busy for at least 30 hours. After that though, the game doesn't offer much. The adventure proves to be very satisfying and many will want to relive it a few more times.
This game looks beautiful. Everything looks very unique from the dungeons to the characters. The characters, enemies and bosses all look very good and have great detail, especially the huge bosses. The worlds, towns, and dungeons all look beautiful. There was attention to detail everywhere. The special effects all look very good. The game runs very smoothly and there is no slowdown nor are there any polygon break ups. The cutscenes were done with delicate attention and look wonderful. The game is very artistic and visually pleasing.
For a cartridge, this game sounds wonderful. Everything sounds crisp and clean. The music is great and very fitting. It is missing the classic Zelda tune, but every track in this game is wonderful. The music fits the mood of the moment perfectly. The one thing that will never fail to annoy you though, is Navi trying to get your attention.
The story is one of the best in any videogame. It starts out with young Link, who finally gets a fairy companion (Navi). He is sent on a quest to prevent a grave evil (Ganondorf) from taking over the land of Hyrule. But in trying to help prevent the evil, Link ironically ends up helping it. So he must destroy that evil. There are many characters that will either offer help or try to stop Link. The story is very compelling and the ending is one of the greatest ever.
Final words: This is the greatest game of all time.
