The gameplay fells just like Lunar: Silver Star besides new weapons and items. It's still pretty linear but easy to pick up. Once again, enemies can be seen on screen before combat in engaged. Battles are exactly the same as the last game, though the AI is a bit improved. The new dungeons are nicely done. The game is pretty long; it will take about 30-40 hours to complete. The game is fun for the most part, but the battles become very repetitive near the last few hours of the game. The new epilogue is actually nice, and shows what happens after the ending. Not much in terms of replay, but still a solid quest.
From looking at a few screens, it's clear that this game has had no graphical updates. While this game may have looked great in its day, it's obviously not as good looking these days. The graphics are at least very smooth and the sprites are very clean. Character and monster designs are very good. The anime cut-scenes are very nice and done wonderfully, a rather nice addition.
The sound is also outdated. It sounds ok though and the sync is good. The voice acting is really good, though there are some voices that don't seem to work very well. The music somewhat repetitive, but most of the tracks are enjoyable.
The story is pretty average for the most part, but near the end it gets really interesting. Those who played the first Lunar will definitely appreciate the story more then those who haven't. But that doesn't mean you have to have played the last game to enjoy the story in this one.
Final words: A worthy follow up the first game. A must play for Lunar fans.
